HumAngle–ICRC Fellowship on Conflict and Missing Persons Reporting
Applications are now open for the HumAngle–ICRC Fellowship on Conflict and Missing Persons Reporting. HumAngle, in partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), is inviting mid-career and senior journalists in Nigeria to apply for a fully funded three-day fellowship focused on reporting conflict and missing persons. The training will take place in Abuja from November 4–6, 2025, with arrival on November 3 and departure on November 7. All expenses—flights, meals, and accommodation—will be covered by the organisers.

About the Fellowship
Nigeria faces a pressing challenge of missing persons, intricately tied to the country’s ongoing conflicts and episodes of armed violence. Journalists play a pivotal role in reporting these stories sensitively, ensuring truth is told without causing additional harm.
Training Overview
Over the course of three days, 10 selected journalists will engage in immersive sessions designed to enhance trauma-informed, ethical, and human-centred reporting. The fellowship, co-facilitated by experts from HumAngle and the ICRC, will explore a variety of key themes.

- Ethical editing: How to decide what details to keep and what to remove for responsible storytelling.

- Psychosocial wellbeing: Self-care and emotional safety for journalists and their sources.
- Exploring radicalism and extremism: Contextualising their impact on conflict and displacement.
