Apply for the African Development Bank Group Internship Program
The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) invites applications for its 2026 African Development Bank Internship Program, designed to nurture young professionals and strengthen the Bank’s mission of promoting development across its Regional Member Countries (RMCs).
This program offers students hands-on experience in an international, multicultural environment while providing the Bank with a pool of skilled potential recruits.
Program Goals
- Expose students to international development work.
- Create a talent pipeline for future AfDB recruitment.
- Promote the Bank’s visibility and development impact.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a citizen of an AfDB member country.
- Aged 30 or younger by December 31, 2025.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree and be enrolled in a master’s program (or have graduated within one year).
- Proficient in English or French, with a working knowledge of the other language.
- Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate adaptability, communication skills, and experience relevant to the Bank’s key areas, including:
Power, Energy & Climate, Agriculture, Private Sector Development, Economics, Finance, Legal, Human Resources, IT, Communication, Governance, Gender, and Environmental Studies.
Program Details
- Approximately 40 interns will be selected for Session 1.
- Internships may be remote or on-site at AfDB headquarters in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, or regional offices.
- Interns receive a monthly stipend and medical insurance.
- Travel and living expenses are self-funded.
- The internship runs once per candidate and may include participation in official Bank missions.
Selection Timeline
- Application window: October 31 – November 14, 2025
- Screening and shortlisting: November 22 – December 8, 2025
- Final results: December 14, 2025
- Internship start date: January 16, 2026
