The Developing Engineering Leaders Through Her (DELT-Her) initiative aims to create opportunities for women in the engineering field by attracting and nurturing innovative engineering concepts that can ultimately be transformed into startup companies through mentorship. The success stories generated from the initial phase of this initiative will be showcased to inspire school-age girls nationwide, with the goal of fostering a paradigm shift that encourages them to pursue engineering as a lifelong career. DELT-Her draws inspiration from global initiatives such as those from the Anita Borg Institute, Girl Up! at the UN Foundation, and the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia, among others.

The primary objectives of this initiative Developing Engineering Leaders Through Her (DELT-Her) for Women in Engineering are:

• To tackle the current gender disparity in the study and practice of engineering and technology in Nigeria by funding the innovative ideas of young female engineers.
• To promote a more inclusive and diverse landscape in engineering practice within Nigeria.
• To establish a collaborative network of stakeholders, including higher education institutions, business leaders, and industry professionals, who can foster a more supportive environment for women in engineering.
• To motivate the upcoming generation of female engineers in Nigeria by enhancing the visibility of successful female engineering role models.

Eligibility – Developing Engineering Leaders Through Her (DELT-Her) for Women in Engineering

• Our program welcomes Nigerian women with engineering ideas who hold at least a bachelor’s degree, or its equivalent.

Application Process – Developing Engineering Leaders Through Her (DELT-Her) for Women in Engineering

• The primary applicants must be female Nigerians holding at least a first degree and possessing innovative engineering concepts.
• This initiative is aimed at young women between the ages of 23 and 45 who have created a proposal centered on innovative engineering ideas and have assembled a team for the execution of these ideas.
• However, to be eligible for funding through this initiative, each team must consist of a minimum of 60% female members.
