Apply: DW Akademie French-speaking Master’s in International Journalism Programme
Applications are now open for the 2026 DW Akademie French-speaking Master’s in International Journalism Programme (MFJI). This programme targets media professionals from French-speaking countries in North and West Africa that partner with German development cooperation, including Morocco, Tunisia, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Benin, and Côte d’Ivoire. Priority is given to applicants permanently residing in these countries.
Launched in collaboration with EPJT, the MFJI offers a specialised French-language master’s curriculum for journalists seeking advanced training in international reporting. Each year, ten candidates are selected through a two-stage process involving an initial eligibility review followed by an interview and written exam.

Selection Criteria
- Higher Education Diploma (issued within the last 10 years)
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher (minimum 180 credits). Degrees older than 10 years are not eligible. Graduates in Information and Communication Sciences receive special consideration. - Professional Experience
At least one year of experience in media or journalism is required. Internships, volunteer work, and similar activities are accepted with supporting documentation. - French Language Proficiency (C1/C2)
A valid DALF or TCF certificate must accompany the application unless exempt. Exemptions apply to candidates with a French baccalaureate, a French higher education diploma, or those from francophone countries where education or work is conducted in French.
Additional Advantage
- Knowledge of English at B1 level is beneficial but not mandatory. Successful applicants without B1 proficiency are encouraged to study English before the programme begins.
