Entries now open for the Thomson Foundation Young Journalist Award
Applications for the 2024 Thomson Foundation Young Journalist Award are now being accepted. This annual competition is run in collaboration with the UK’s Foreign Press Association (FPA) and winners are announced at the FPA’s annual awards ceremony in London.
Journalists under the age of 30, from countries with a Gross National Income (GNI) per capita of less than USD20,000, are encouraged to submit their top stories for consideration by the judging panel.
Eligibility Criteria: Entries now open for the Thomson Foundation Young Journalist Award
- AGE: Participants must be 30 years old or younger by 25 November 2024.
- LOCATION: The “developing world” refers to countries with a Gross National Income (GNI) of US$20,000 or less.
- Participants must be from a country that meets the GNI criteria and reporting from/in that country or, if not in their country of origin, in another country that fits the same GNI criteria.

- PORTFOLIO: Each participant must submit a portfolio of THREE published or broadcast pieces of work created in the 12 months leading up to 9 August 2024 (the 12 months prior to the submission deadline).
- LANGUAGE: Submissions can be in any language but must include an exact English-language translation.
