We invite you to apply for membership in the Reuters Institute Oxford Climate Journalism Network. This presents a distinctive opportunity to become part of a global community, where you can learn from fellow journalists and academics while enhancing your own skills and advancing your career in climate journalism.

Participants in the Reuters Institute Oxford Climate Journalism Network will engage in a six-month online program that provides access to leading experts, specialized workshops, and a network of 100 journalists from around the world.

Eligibility Criteria – Reuters Institute Oxford Climate Journalism Network.

This Reuters Institute Oxford Climate Journalism Network. is tailored for journalists from various fields and formats who wish to enhance their reporting on climate change. While it is open to climate specialists, it is not exclusively for them. The initiative seeks to expand the horizons of climate change journalism, encouraging applications from journalists, multimedia reporters, photographers, and editors in diverse sectors such as sports, business, and politics. Please note that this program is intended for practicing journalists only; students and public relations professionals are not eligible to apply.

Applicants must secure written approval from their line manager to attend the 14 required sessions and participate in the overall program.

Successful candidates will be expected to:

– Attend 14 mandatory sessions, which include one introductory session, one closing session, and 12 keynote seminars lasting 90 minutes each, scheduled biweekly. These sessions typically occur on Tuesdays at 13:00 UK time to accommodate various time zones, though this may pose challenges for participants in East Asia, the Pacific, and Western North America.
– Participate in the community’s dedicated online platform and interact with fellow members.
– Attend optional 60-minute sessions whenever feasible. These sessions are generally held at 13:00 UK time but may be adjusted to better suit participants’ schedules. Approximately 25 optional sessions will be offered in addition to the 14 mandatory ones.
– Engage actively with the network’s community, including discussions with peers on the online platform and participation in additional activities and events whenever possible.

  • Complete three brief questionnaires tracking their knowledge through the process, including a survey in June, another one in December and a mid-course survey.
