About the Government of Mauritius Africa Scholarship Program
Launched in 2016 as part of Mauritius’ commitment to Pan-African solidarity and human resource development, the Mauritius Africa Scholarship Scheme stands as a flagship program of the Mauritian government to strengthen educational ties across Africa. Fully financed by the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Science and Research, it reflects Mauritius’ vision of becoming a knowledge hub in the Indian Ocean region while fostering intra-African cooperation. The program has empowered hundreds of young Africans by removing financial barriers and providing access to world-class public universities known for excellence in fields such as engineering, medicine, information technology, sustainable development, agriculture, and hospitality management. Beyond tuition and living support, recipients benefit from Mauritius’ safe, English- and French-speaking environment, modern infrastructure, and strategic location that serves as a bridge between Africa and Asia. This scholarship not only transforms individual careers but also contributes to capacity-building in home countries through the knowledge and networks scholars bring back upon graduation.
