Apply: TWAS Research Professors in Least Developed Countries Programme
Applications are now open for the 2025/2026 TWAS Research Professors in Least Developed Countries Programme. This initiative invites TWAS Fellows and TWAS Young Affiliates/Alumni to serve as Research Professors for one year, during which they will visit a host institution in an LDC for two to four weeks. TWAS covers international travel costs, while local living expenses are provided by the host institution.
The programme aims to strengthen research capacity in LDCs by fostering long-term collaboration between TWAS scientists and local research groups. Through these visits, participating institutions gain valuable support in research, advanced training, and capacity building.
Eligibility and Benefits:
- Open to TWAS Fellows, Young Affiliates, and Alumni with a PhD.
- Visits last two to four weeks.
- TWAS provides round-trip economy travel, additional travel costs, and an honorarium.
- Host institutions cover local accommodation and expenses.
Important Notes:
- Applications must come from research groups or scientific institutions in Least Developed Countries (LDCs).
- Only one application per calendar year is allowed under TWAS and OWSD programmes.
- The same individual cannot participate in multiple TWAS Visiting Professor programmes within the same year (except institutional heads who invite external scholars).
