Apply for the Swedish Institute Scholarships for Global Professionals

Applications are now open for the 2026 Swedish Institute Scholarships for Global Professionals (SISGP) — a prestigious, fully funded opportunity for talented individuals from selected countries to pursue master’s studies in Sweden. The Swedish Institute (SI) offers these scholarships to outstanding professionals who demonstrate leadership potential and a desire to contribute to sustainable development in their home countries.

The scholarship covers full-time one- or two-year master’s programmes at Swedish universities, all taught in English. Eligible fields of study span across various disciplines, including:

  1. Governance
  2. Public Health
  3. Entrepreneurship and Innovation
  4. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)

Scholars will also join the SI Network for Global Professionals (NFGP)—a dynamic platform for collaboration, learning, and lifelong connection among future global leaders.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Country of Citizenship
Applicants must hold citizenship from one of the eligible countries listed below. Residency in the country at the time of application is not mandatory.

Eligible countries include:
Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, Ethiopia, Georgia, Guatemala, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Kenya, Liberia, Malaysia, Mexico, Moldova, Morocco, Nigeria, Peru, Philippines, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Thailand, Uganda, Ukraine, Vietnam, and Zambia.

2. Master’s Programmes
Candidates must apply to master’s programmes that are eligible for the SI Scholarship. The updated list of eligible programmes will be published in mid-November 2025.

3. University Admission
Applicants must be required to pay tuition fees to Swedish universities, follow all steps of University Admissions, and be admitted to one of the eligible programmes by the time admissions results are announced.

4. Previous Experience
Applicants should have demonstrated professional work experience (specific conditions apply by region) and show leadership experience either through employment or civil society engagement.

Scholarship Benefits

The SI Scholarship for Global Professionals offers comprehensive financial support, including:

  • Full tuition coverage, paid directly to the Swedish university each semester.
  • Monthly stipend of SEK 12,000 for living expenses throughout the study period.
  • Travel grant of SEK 15,000 (SEK 10,000 for scholars from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine). This is a one-time payment and does not apply to students already residing in Sweden.
  • Membership in the SI Network for Global Professionals (NFGP) to enhance career growth and networking opportunities during the study period.
  • Alumni membership in the Sweden Alumni Network after graduation, offering continued professional development and global networking opportunities.

Note:
The scholarship does not include insurance, additional grants for family members, or coverage for the University Admissions application fee. It also does not allow for changes in study programmes or extensions beyond the awarded period.

Application Timeline

  • 16 October 2025 – 15 January 2026: Apply for master’s programmes via University Admissions.
  • Mid-November 2025: Publication of SI scholarship documents and eligible programmes.
  • 9–25 February 2026: SI Scholarship application portal opens (for two weeks).
  • 26 March 2026: University admission results announced.
  • 23 April 2026: SI Scholarship awardees announced.
