Applications are currently open for the 2025 H & M Foundation Global Change Award for Fashion Innovators. This initiative seeks innovators dedicated to decarbonizing the fashion industry, with the goal of advancing the textile sector towards net-zero emissions through innovative solutions that benefit both society and the environment. Established in 2015, the H & M Foundation Global Change Award, often referred to as the “Nobel Prize of Fashion,” has since supported 46 innovations with a total funding of 8 million euros. Winning the Global Change Award offers numerous advantages beyond the financial grant.

Each winner is awarded €200,000 and is honored at the prestigious Stockholm City Hall, the venue of the Nobel Prize ceremony, where they gain valuable connections within the broader industry. Additionally, winners participate in a yearlong Changemaker Programme, organized by the H & M Foundation in partnership with Accenture and KTH Royal Institute of Technology.
The Global Change Award focuses on four primary areas of transformation that align with our strategic objectives. The following descriptions illustrate these areas but are not exhaustive.
- Sustainable materials and processes – Innovations in low-energy materials, new and recycled fibers, sustainable energy practices, alternative wet processes, treatments and finishes, and novel construction techniques.
- Responsible production – Solutions that enhance renewable energy use, energy efficiency, predictive modeling, traceability, on-demand production, waste management, and zero-waste initiatives.
- Mindful consumption – Strategies to reshape demand, promote garment care, extend garment life cycles, develop recycling solutions, and implement circular business models.
- Wildcards – Innovative solutions and drivers that may not have been previously considered but align with the overarching mission of the Global Change Award.
