Applications open for the Llama Impact Accelerator Program
Applications are now open for the Llama Impact Accelerator Program. The Llama Impact Accelerator Program is a regional initiative aimed at supporting startups that create impactful solutions utilizing Llama. Operating in Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, and Senegal, this program allows participants to design scalable, locally pertinent AI applications that tackle urgent national issues in areas such as healthcare, agriculture, education, safety, and public services. By providing expert mentorship, technical training, and growth opportunities after the accelerator, the program is fostering the next wave of AI innovation in Africa.
The Llama Impact Accelerator Program spans 8 months and focuses on innovation and capacity building, specifically tailored to assist startups in developing impactful solutions with Llama to address significant challenges in the participating countries. The program features a 6-week intensive accelerator followed by 6 months of support post-program.
Llama is a collection of large language models created by Meta, intended to generate and comprehend human-like text. These models are open-sourced and optimized for efficiency, requiring fewer computational resources for both training and inference than many other large language models. This characteristic enhances their accessibility for a broader community of developers and researchers.

- Winners of the SSA Llama Impact Accelerator program will be invited to pitch for additional funding of up to $100,000 through the Africa, Middle East, and Turkey (AMET) Llama Summit, and are eligible to apply for the Global Llama Impact Grant and additional funding opportunities
Funding – Llama Impact Accelerator Program
The winning teams from the Demo Day may be eligible for equity-free funding of up to $25,000 to support the development and deployment of their solutions.
– First prize: $25,000
– Second prize: $15,000
– Third prize: $10,000
Eligibility – Llama Impact Accelerator Program
- Startups based in Nigeria, Kenya, Senegal, or South Africa that are building impactful solutions using Llama that;
- Have a working prototype or MVP, including early-stage products that clearly demonstrate technical potential
- Are available to fully participate in the 6-week accelerator (including in-person sessions)
- Have a solution that is aligned with the country-specific focus areas (see country pages for details)
