Applications open for the AFR100 Land Accelerator Africa Project

Restoring degraded land—including farmland, forests, and other landscapes—is critical for tackling climate change, improving food security, and enhancing livelihoods across Africa. The AFR100 Land Accelerator  Africa Project supports innovative entrepreneurs who are driving restoration initiatives on the continent, providing them with the training, funding, and networks needed to scale impactful solutions that benefit both the land and local communities.

Programme Benefits

Participants in the AFR100 Land Accelerator gain access to a range of resources and opportunities to accelerate their restoration work:

Innovation Grant: USD 5,000 awarded to the top 100 selected restoration entrepreneurs or enterprises.

Cohort-Based Accelerator: Combines online mentorship and training with an intensive in-person workshop.

Phase One (3 months): Weekly online sessions to develop key deliverables and build business and technical skills.

Phase Two: A one-week, in-person workshop culminating in an Impact Day, where participants pitch to public audiences and potential investors.

Networking Opportunities: Access to a growing community of restoration-focused entrepreneurs and partnerships with organizations like WRI, Fledge, and AUDA-NEPAD.

Who Should Apply

The AFR100 Land Accelerator is ideal for entrepreneurs who:

• Are leading or co-founding a business or project focused on restoring degraded forests or landscapes in Africa.

• Work on initiatives aligned with forest landscape restoration (FLR), AFR100 goals, the Bonn Challenge, Agenda 2063, or relevant Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

• Are open to online learning and can travel for the in-person workshop if selected.

• Youth and women entrepreneurs are strongly encouraged to apply.

Programme Duration & Deadlines

Phase One: Three months of online mentorship, training, and deliverable development.

Phase Two: One-week in-person workshop, ending with an Impact Day pitch event.

Tips for a Strong Application

To increase your chances of being selected, applicants should focus on the following:

1. Quantify Your Restoration Impact: Provide clear numbers, such as hectares restored, farmers supported, or carbon sequestered, to demonstrate tangible outcomes.

2. Show Project Viability and Scalability: Explain how your initiative can grow or be replicated, including resource needs and potential challenges.

3. Highlight Community or Stakeholder Involvement: Show engagement with local communities, governments, or farmers, as partnerships strengthen project impact.

4. Outline Financial and Deliverable Plans: Present a clear budget and timeline to demonstrate effective use of the USD 5,000 grant.

5. Leverage Gender and Youth Inclusion: If your project is youth- or women-led, or significantly benefits these groups, make this explicit, as inclusion is a priority.
