Eligibility Requirements
To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Possess 0–2 years of professional experience.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least a Second-Class Upper Division in a numerical or business-related discipline.
- Have five O’Level credits, including English and Mathematics, obtained at one sitting.
- NYSC completion is mandatory.
- Applicants must be 26 years old or younger at the time of application.
- A Master’s degree and/or Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS) certification are added advantages.
- Demonstrated interest in financial services and proficiency in Bloomberg or other financial information tools.
- Strong communication, analytical, and teamwork skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Roles and Career Tracks
Participants will gain exposure across both technical and non-technical departments, including Investment Banking, Portfolio Management, Investment Research, Legal, Human Resources, and other specialized units.
Technical Roles
Graduate trainees in technical streams will:
- Conduct in-depth financial statement analysis and participate in due diligence for prospective investment opportunities.
- Build and maintain robust financial models across diverse sectors.
- Execute client trades efficiently while considering key performance metrics such as urgency and volume-weighted average price.
- Research macroeconomic trends to identify investment opportunities and optimize asset performance.
- Rebalance client portfolios and manage asset allocations to ensure maximum returns.
Non-Technical Roles
Investment Advisory (Sales):
Trainees will advise clients on portfolio strategies, develop customized investment plans, and foster long-term relationships. They will also help grow CardinalStone’s Assets Under Management (AUM) by promoting its suite of financial products while ensuring client satisfaction and retention.
Institutional Sales:
This track focuses on business development and client acquisition, catering to institutional investors such as PFAs, asset managers, insurance companies, corporates, and fintech firms. Trainees will learn to manage high-value accounts and support strategic business growth.
Operations & Transformation:
This role involves driving operational efficiency through process optimization, digital transformation, and data-driven decision-making. Trainees will work on business improvement initiatives to enhance organizational effectiveness.
Internal Control:
Participants will help enforce compliance by conducting internal reviews, monitoring reporting accuracy, and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards. They will also oversee back-office operations and risk mitigation processes.
Trustees:
This department focuses on client relationship management within the trust and fiduciary services division. Trainees will draft contracts, maintain client portfolios, and ensure that trust deeds and investment strategies align with clients’ financial goals.
Legal & Compliance:
Here, trainees will draft and review contracts, ensure compliance with the Investment and Securities Act, and maintain robust KYC and AML/CFT frameworks. They will also liaise with regulatory authorities like SEC, NFIU, and CBN to maintain transparent operations.
Financial Control:
This role entails preparing financial statements, ensuring adherence to IFRS, managing journal entries, and supporting regulatory reporting. It provides exposure to accounting, auditing, and financial management.
Human Resources:
HR trainees will assist in recruitment, onboarding, and employee engagement initiatives. They will also participate in developing organizational policies and leading HR transformation projects.
