World Bank IFC Global Internship Program (GIP) Qualifications and Program Structure:

To be eligible for the Global Internship Program (GIP), candidates must currently be enrolled in a Masters’ degree program and have a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience.

IFC offers internships for a minimum duration of four weeks, which take place between May and September. These internships involve working on specific projects either in Washington, D.C. or in one of IFC’s country or regional offices. It is worth noting that some of the opportunities posted are also available for virtual participation.

The operational assignments within the GIP cover a wide range of areas, including sector-specific market mapping, investment proposal reviews, financial modeling and analysis, portfolio management, upstream work, and advisory services activities. Additionally, there are assignments available in corporate and support departments, which encompass various activities.

In addition to the hands-on experience, Global Interns also benefit from corporate orientation, skills training, and regular learning events and activities specifically designed for the GIP cohort.

Upon the completion of the internship, successful GIP interns undergo a comprehensive evaluation process. Those who excel are encouraged to apply for the WBG Young Professionals Program, provided they meet the application requirements. Alternatively, they may also explore other full-time opportunities available after graduation.
