TWAS-TÜBİTAK Postgraduate Fellowship Programme 2024 Applications Open
The 2024 TWAS-TÜBİTAK Postgraduate Fellowship Programme is now accepting applications. This fellowship program, established by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK) and TWAS, is designed for foreign scholars from developing countries in the South who want to pursue a portion of their research towards a PhD in the natural and related applied sciences. The research can be conducted at departments and laboratories of public and private universities in Türkiye (Turkey) as well as TÜBİTAK Research Centers and Institutes.
TWAS-TÜBİTAK Postgraduate Fellowship Programme Details

- To apply for the Fellowship, candidates must submit their applications online through the TÜBİTAK online application system via TYBS.
- To access the online application form, candidates need to create a profile on the TÜBİTAK Researcher Information System (ARBİS) platform, which is available at https://arbis.tubitak.gov.tr.
- The Fellowships are available for a minimum duration of 6 months and a maximum duration of 12 months.
- Successful applicants will have the opportunity to conduct their research at departments and laboratories of public and private universities in Turkey.

TWAS-TÜBİTAK Postgraduate Fellowship Programme Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for these Fellowships, applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. Citizenship: Applicants must be permanent residents and nationals of a developing country in the South. The list of eligible countries can be found at https://twas.org/developing-countries-south. Please note that developing countries not included in the list are also eligible to apply.
2. Science and Technology Lagging Countries (STLC): Candidates from STLC and women are strongly encouraged to apply. The list of STLC can be found at https://twas.org/66-countries.
3. Visa Status: Applicants must not hold any visa for temporary or permanent residency in Turkey or any developed country.
4. Onsite Applicants: Individuals who are already in Turkey as residents are not eligible to apply for this fellowship.
5. Education: Applicants must hold a master’s or equivalent degree in natural and related applied sciences in one of the specified fields.
6. Age Limit: Applicants must be maximum 35 years old as of 31 December of the application year.
7. Doctoral Registration: By the application deadline, applicants must be registered for a doctoral program in natural and related applied sciences in a higher education institution in their home country or another developing country. They must have either successfully passed the PhD qualifying exam or be in an advanced stage of their PhD research. This criterion must be certified with an official Registration & No Objection Certificate, which should be issued within three months before the application date and provide a brief overview of the research timeline and planned work.
TWAS-TÜBİTAK Postgraduate Fellowship Programme Application Procedure:
- The deadline for applications has been extended until 26 February 2024.
- All applications for the Fellowship must be submitted online through the TÜBİTAK online application system, which can be accessed via TYBS HERE.
- Please note that in order to submit the online application form to TÜBİTAK via TYBS, candidates must first create a profile on the TÜBİTAK Researcher Information System (ARBİS) platform.
