The Countdown to 2030 Fellowship Program 2024 for African researchers is now accepting entries

The Countdown to 2030 Fellowship Program is a collaborative initiative aimed at enhancing analytical capacities for monitoring and tracking life-saving interventions in reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health and nutrition (RMNCAH+N) in Africa. Starting from 2023, the program selects 10 fellows annually from countries involved in the Countdown collaboration. These fellows will engage in a 12-month fellowship, during which they will work on a specific research project related to RMNCAH+N under the mentorship of other Countdown researchers.

The Countdown to 2030 fellowship, spanning one year, provides African researchers with the opportunity to strengthen their analytical capacities in monitoring reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health.

Requirements:

To be eligible, applicants must:

1. Be a citizen of an African country involved in the Countdown collaboration.
2. Hold a master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, global health, demography, biostatistics, or a related field with a specialization in reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health. Applicants with a bachelor’s degree and extensive research experience in these areas may also apply.
3. Be below 45 years of age at the time of application.
4. Possess research experience.

Programme Details:

Fellows are expected to:

1. Actively contribute to country collaboration activities by leading the drafting of reports or other technical and communication products.
2. Attend two training workshops at APHRC.
3. Participate in virtual and face-to-face meetings with mentors and technical facilitators.
4. Draft and submit at least one article to an international peer-reviewed journal by the end of the fellowship.
5. Submit progress reports every three months.
