Oribi x AfriFOODlinks Incubation Programme for sustainable agri-food businesses – 2024 Application

AfriFOODlinks Incubation Programme, led by Oribi, is taking a proactive stance by providing a platform for food entrepreneurs in Cape Town to create a positive impact in their communities. We are excited to announce the official launch of the programme and welcome individuals who are passionate about transforming food systems and fostering positive change to participate in the incubation programme.

AfriFOODlinks envisions a future where cities in Africa and beyond prioritize food systems and nutrition in local governance. We are dedicated to empowering citizens and promoting collaborations among various stakeholders to influence policies and urban planning processes that support food security, environmental sustainability, and equal access to nutritious food.

What distinguishes AfriFOODlinks is its comprehensive approach to nurturing food businesses that are in line with our core principles of rethinking, regenerating, reducing, reusing, and recovering. We are not only interested in entrepreneurs with innovative product concepts; we are looking for individuals committed to eco-friendly practices, regenerative agriculture, zero-waste production, resource recycling, and waste management.

Selected entrepreneurs participating in the AfriFOODlinks Incubation Programme will receive support and access to a network designed to help them succeed. This includes guidance from industry professionals, coaching sessions to address specific challenges, networking opportunities to connect with like-minded peers and organizations, and financial assistance to expand their social enterprises.

Tasneem Jhetam expresses the desire to ensure the participation of women and young entrepreneurs from marginalized and under-resourced areas in Cape Town. Through previous incubation programs, they have provided guidance to numerous entrepreneurs who have gone on to establish and successfully operate social ventures in the agri-food sector. By partnering with AfriFOODlinks, their social entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to receive mentorship and personalized coaching from industry experts, as well as connect with a vast network of food system entrepreneurs across Africa.

Collaboration is a fundamental aspect of the program, as it brings together diverse voices and expertise to drive meaningful change in food systems throughout the continent. Whether you are a farmer, food processor, distributor, or innovator working on sustainable packaging solutions, there is a place for you within the AfriFOODlinks community.

The launch of the AfriFOODlinks Incubation Programme represents a significant milestone in our collective efforts to establish a more resilient, equitable, and sustainable food future for Africa and beyond. We are eagerly anticipating the innovative ideas and ventures that will emerge from this initiative and the positive impact they will have on communities across the continent.
