Join the Allan Gray Makers Startup Academy Incubation Program For Aspiring Artisan Entrepreneurs
The Allan Gray Makers StartUp Academy is an 8-month incubation program designed to support aspiring artisan entrepreneurs in the Plumbing and Electrical trades. This fully funded program offers business training and support to help participants start their own businesses. Starting on April 15, 2024, the program will be full-time and in-person. Thanks to the funding from Allan Gray Makers, all program costs are covered, including a basic transport allowance. All we ask for is your commitment, time, and energy!
Here’s what the program includes:
1. Training in Entrepreneurial Mindset, New Venture Creation, Marketing and Sales, Business Management, Financial Management, Branding, E-skills for business, and Personal Mastery.
2. Opportunities to work in teams and network with other businesses.
3. Access to Personal Mentorship, Business Shadowing, Industry-Expert Coaches, and Business Advisory.
4. Access to markets with a focus on making your first sale.
5. Access to Office Space.
6. Support to start your business and prepare for your Trade test.
7. Graduates will have access to lifelong support.
8. The program will be held in Gauteng (Johannesburg), Mpumalanga (Gert Sibanda/Ermelo), Kwa-Zulu Natal (Ethekwini district/Durban), and Eastern Cape (Nelson Mandela Bay district/Gqeberha).
Eligibility
To be eligible for the program, you must meet the following minimum requirements:
– Age: 18-34
– South African citizen or hold a permanent residence status
– Completed a relevant learning program in the Plumbing or Electrical Trades with N6 and 18 months of apprenticeship
– Qualify to take a trade test (having a trade test certificate is advantageous)
– Location: Gauteng (Johannesburg City, Ekurhuleni City, Mogale City, and Ruimsig), Mpumalanga (Gert Sibanda Municipality), Kwa-Zulu Natal (Ethekwini District), and Eastern Cape (Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan)
– Industry: Plumbing & Electrical
– Intentions: Desire to start their own business
