The Program Officer at DEVATOP Centre for Africa Development plays a crucial role in overseeing the planning, coordination, monitoring, and reporting of an organization’s programs and projects. Collaborating closely with the Program Manager and project team, the Program Officer ensures the successful delivery of programs and projects. This individual is instrumental in program development, grant-seeking, budget oversight, and project management. By aligning activities and programs with the organization’s goals and mission statement, the Program Officer works alongside other managers, vendors, and financial supporters to establish, maintain, and adhere to budgets, which includes the review and execution of grant proposals.

The Program Officer also fosters partnerships and relationships with other organizations, such as nonprofits, community organizers, or federal agencies, to expand services, secure funding, and raise awareness about the organization’s initiatives. Regular reporting on program developments and activities, including annual reports or periodic updates, keeps the organization informed.

Responsibilities:

– Develop and oversee project plans, timelines, and budgets
– Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve program objectives
– Conduct research and analysis to support program growth and decision-making
– Prepare reports, presentations, and materials for stakeholders and partners
– Monitor program progress and identify areas for enhancement
– Review and assess program proposals and applications
– Establish and implement program policies and procedures
– Collaborate with Program Managers to identify funding opportunities and craft grant proposals
– Support fundraising efforts and maintain donor relations.

Program Officer Qualifications:

1. Possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
2. Demonstrate experience in project management, program coordination, or a related field within the NGO Sector.
3. Showcase strong organizational and planning skills.
4. Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Display the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
6. Proficient in project management software and Microsoft Office.
7. Have experience in designing tools and strategies for data collection, analysis, and report production.
8. Possess excellent problem-solving skills.
9. Maintain a professional and pleasant demeanor when meeting with stakeholders.
10. Show sharp attention to detail and exceptional multitasking abilities.
11. Be a reliable and diligent worker.
