Google Research Scholar Program for early-career Professors ($60,000 award)
The Google Research Scholar Program is all about supporting those early-career professors who are diving headfirst into research that aligns with Google’s interests. It’s like a big ol’ cheerleader for world-class research! We provide unrestricted gifts to institutions all over the globe, giving these professors the freedom to pursue their groundbreaking work.
Eligibility criteria
Now, let’s talk eligibility. To be considered, applicants need to be full-time assistant, associate, or professor at a university or research institution. Sorry, post-doctoral staff, you can’t be the primary PI, but you can still be a co-PI. We’re looking for fresh faces in the research world, so applicants should have received their PhD within the past seven years. But hey, we understand that life happens, so if you’ve had any delays like industry work or parental leave, we’ll take that into account. Just let us know in your application.
Now, here’s the deal. You can only submit one application per round, and you can’t serve on two separate proposals. We want to spread the love, you know? And within the seven years after getting your PhD, you can apply a maximum of three times. So, make ’em count!
Funding amounts
Let’s talk money. We’re here to support the advancement of your research, so we’re granting funds of up to $60,000 USD. That’s some serious support right there!
Supporting cutting-edge research
We take this selection process seriously. Proposals go through an internal review, and within six months of submitting, you’ll hear back from us. We’re excited to see what you’ve got in store! And when it comes to the areas of interest, we’ve got quite the list:
- Algorithms and optimization
- Fundamental and applied science
- Health research
- Human-computer interaction
- Machine learning and data mining
- Machine perception
- Natural language processing
- Privacy
- Quantum computing
- Security
