Entries open for the 2024 African Private Equity Fellowship Program

Applications are currently being accepted for the 2024 African Private Equity Fellowship Program. This 6-month executive program is tailored to offer training and networking opportunities for skilled investors in Africa.

Proparco, a subsidiary of Agence Française de Développement (AFD Group) dedicated to the private sector, has been committed to promoting sustainable economic, social, and environmental development for more than 40 years. Through the French initiative Choose Africa, which aims to support African entrepreneurship, AFD Group provides its resources to finance and support African start-ups, microenterprises, and MSMEs at different stages of their growth, particularly through local partners backed by the Group.

Requirements: African Private Equity Fellowship Program

The program is open to investment professionals from across the African continent and aims to foster collaboration between regions. Gender equality will be a key focus during the selection process.

Applicants will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

– Currently working in PE/VC/Private Debt (or in Finance with an interest in transitioning to these sectors)
– Engaged in work related to the African continent
– Proficient in English
– Possess 2 to 6 years of experience in PE/VC/Private Debt
– Available to dedicate approximately 2/3 hours per week to the program

Topics covered during the Fellowship include:

– Key trends in private equity in Africa
– Macro risk management
– Financing/debt: emphasis on private credit in Africa
– The rapid growth of Venture Capital in Africa
– ESG in private equity in Africa
– Sector-specific focus: Infrastructure Energy, Telco/FinTech, Healthcare, Agri-food, etc.
– Regional focus: East & South Asia, MENA, West Africa, etc.

Upon completion of the Fellowship, participants will become part of our expanding community of next-generation African Investors.

Your commitment: African Private Equity Fellowship Program

  1. The program is specifically designed to cater to active professionals, ensuring that they can participate in mandatory webinars every two weeks after their working hours. The Fellowship is conducted entirely online and is completely free of charge.
  2. During the course of six months, participants are expected to dedicate a maximum of 2-3 hours per week. This time commitment includes both synchronous webinars, which are mandatory, and asynchronous activities such as optional MOOCs and mentorship opportunities.
  3. The Fellows are expected to demonstrate commitment and rigor throughout the program, particularly in terms of the quality of the stakeholders involved.
