Deutsche Welle International Journalism Traineeship for aspiring Journalists – Germany (Paid Position)
Applications are now being accepted for the 2025-2026 Deutsche Welle Journalism Traineeship. The DW traineeship, a highly esteemed journalism training program in Germany and beyond, equips participants with the skills necessary to thrive as a successful multimedia reporter and editor.
The program encompasses a wide range of essential skills for future journalists, including TV moderation, multimedia storytelling, data journalism, social media, and virtual reality. These are honed through seminars, workshops, and practical experience at the DW editorial offices, as well as their correspondent bureaux in Washington and Brussels.
Requirements
- DW seeks individuals from around the world who are interested in a comprehensive, high-quality journalism program with an international broadcaster. Candidates should possess journalism experience or demonstrate a strong passion for transitioning to journalism from fields such as law, economics, the sciences, or technology/IT.
- The program values open-mindedness and creativity and specifically seeks experts from diverse disciplines who are capable of independent thinking and idea development.
- The program offers extensive training in various skills required for future journalists, including TV moderation, multimedia storytelling, data journalism, social media, and virtual reality, through seminars, workshops, and practical experience at the DW editorial offices and correspondent bureaux in Washington and Brussels.
- DW trainees engage in long-term innovative international projects and have received recognition through awards such as the CNN Journalism Award and the Grimme Prize in previous years. Upon completion of the traineeship, participants typically continue their work with DW.
