Applications are now open for the Sanofi Foundation S Climate Action & Health Resilience Grants for African NGOs. African community-based organizations, local NGOs, and civil society groups working at the intersection of climate change and public health have a groundbreaking chance to secure substantial funding. Foundation S – the Sanofi Global Health Program has officially launched the 2025 Climate Action & Health Resilience Grants, a dedicated initiative to support grassroots solutions that protect vulnerable populations from the growing threats of climate-related health risks.
This program specifically targets locally led projects that reduce the dangers posed by extreme heat, air pollution, and other climate-driven challenges. Women, youth, and marginalized communities—who often bear the brunt of these crises—are at the heart of the initiative. By empowering community-driven innovations, the grants aim to strengthen health systems, enhance adaptive capacity, and foster long-term resilience across Africa and select Asian countries.

About the Climate Action & Health Resilience Grants
The Climate Action & Health Resilience Grants represent a bold expansion of this commitment, recognizing the inseparable link between environmental changes and public health outcomes. By channeling resources directly to local actors, Foundation S ensures that solutions are culturally relevant, equitable, and scalable—prioritizing voices that are too often overlooked in global funding landscapes.
This year’s call places special emphasis on blending climate adaptation with health system resilience. Successful projects will receive €50,000 to €100,000 per year for 12–24 months, with the possibility of a 12-month extension. Importantly, at least 80% of the budget must be spent locally, guaranteeing that funds translate into on-the-ground impact rather than administrative overhead.
Key Focus Areas
Applicants must align their proposals with one or both of the following pillars:
- Community health system strengthening to better anticipate, prevent, and respond to health risks from extreme heat and air pollution.
- Leveraging science, data, technology, early-warning systems, and AI to drive evidence-based climate-health adaptation strategies.
All initiatives are required to uphold principles of equity, inclusion, and local leadership, with particular encouragement for women- and youth-led efforts.

- Zimbabwe
(Asian countries also eligible: Cambodia, Laos, Nepal, Pakistan)
Who Can Apply
The call is open to:
- Community-based organisations (CBOs)
- Local NGOs and civil society organisations (CSOs)
- National and international NGOs with demonstrated strong local partnerships
Priority will be given to:
- Women-led and youth-led initiatives
- First-time applicants to Foundation S
- Projects that collaborate with government health or environment ministries
- Solutions that are scalable, sustainable, and measurable
