The UNDESA Italian Junior Professional Officers Programme is a collaborative development initiative supported by the Government of Italy through the Directorate General for Development Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and executed by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN/DESA). It offers the opportunity for qualified Italian citizens and citizens of eligible developing countries to acquire professional experience with international organizations for a duration of two years, with the potential for a one-year extension.
The UNDESA Italian Junior Professional Officers Programme serves a dual purpose: to aid international organizations in their operations by supplying them with skilled personnel, and to provide qualified young professionals aspiring for an international career with valuable experience that can enhance their prospects for employment in international organizations or the global arena.
Positions – UNDESA Italian Junior Professional Officers Programme
- Applications are now being accepted for 46 positions within the Italian Junior Professional Officers Programme.
- 12 positions will be allocated to various entities within the United Nations Secretariat, while
- 34 positions will be designated to 22 international organizations across 20 different duty stations.
- Out of the total positions, 45 are specifically set aside for Italian nationals, with 1 position reserved for candidates from developing countries.
Admission Criteria – UNDESA Italian Junior Professional Officers Programme
The admission criteria for candidates with Italian nationality are as follows:
– Born on or after 1 January 1993 (1 January 1992 for graduates in Medicine; 1 January 1990 for graduates in Medicine who have already been awarded a post-graduate medical specialization degree)
– Italian nationality
– Fluency in English and Italian
– Advanced university degree awarded before the application deadline, such as:
– Laurea Magistrale/Specialistica
– Laurea Magistrale a ciclo unico
– University Master’s degree awarded after a Laurea/Laurea Triennale
– University Master’s degree awarded after a Bachelor’s degree.
– Hold the nationality of one of the developing countries eligible for the position
