• 5 Winners will be selected to receive a cash prize of $200,000 each, from the Twilio.org Impact Fund, that will be allocated by ImpactAssets based on Twilio’s recommendation.

Criteria – Twilio.org Climate Tech Prize For Entrepreneurs

1. Submissions for the Twilio.org Climate Tech Prize For Entrepreneurs will undergo evaluation based on the subsequent standards:
2. Climate Resilience Solution: A solution, implementation, or value proposition that significantly improves the resilience of frontline communities facing climate change. The solution should also cater to changing customer demands or create new business opportunities throughout the value chain.
3. Tech/Solution: An implementation or value proposition that strengthens efforts in mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery in light of climate change challenges. Preference will be given to software and digital communication technology solutions.
4. Impact: Demonstrated impact with specific metrics. The company has effectively dealt with and minimized any negative (or unintended) consequences of the solution.
5. Financial Model: Demonstrated financial backing, a well-documented and sustainable plan, or a clear business model with potential for scalability.
6. Traction & Market Opportunity: Possession of a developed product or service with at least 2 paying customers or projects, showcasing early product/market fit.
7. Team: A team comprising experts or specialists in their respective fields, with diverse backgrounds including representation from communities affected by climate change.
8. Inclusive Design: The solution integrates inclusivity and equity at every stage of the design process, with the team possessing deep knowledge and presence in the communities they aim to assist.
   After an interview, the Judges will assess and score the finalists based on the following criteria:

10. Exceptional impact and evidence of potential reach and depth of impact
11. Team’s capability to deliver results and scale for increased impact
    \Five (5) Winners will be chosen to receive a cash prize of $200,000 each. The funding will be distributed by ImpactAssets following Twilio.org’s recommendation.
12. The prize money will be directly provided to the winners upon submission of necessary tax and other required due diligence documents. Winners are accountable for any applicable taxes.

Eligible entities for the Twilio.org Climate Tech Prize For Entrepreneurs include any non-profit organization classified under 501(c)(3), as well as international equivalents that have received equivalency determination or operate under a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt fiscal sponsor. Additionally, for-profit organizations and their affiliates may qualify if they meet the following minimum criteria:

– A minimum of four full-time employees or equivalent full-time resources
– Demonstrated success in practical applications
– Technology must play a pivotal role in the proposed solution

Additional Criteria for Twilio.org Climate Tech Prize For Entrepreneurs:

– Community-based resilience initiatives
– Support for at-risk populations
– Proven engagement with at least two customers or projects

Ineligibility Criteria: Twilio.org Climate Tech Prize For Entrepreneurs

1. Individuals, government entities, and organizations classified under 501(c)(4) are not eligible to participate in the Twilio.org Climate Tech Prize For Entrepreneurs. While the prize competition is open globally, grants or prizes cannot be awarded in countries subject to comprehensive embargoes or sanctions imposed by the US Department of Treasury, including Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, and the Crimea Region of Ukraine. 2. Employees and contractors of Twilio, along with their family members, are also ineligible to participate in the Twilio.org Climate Tech Prize For Entrepreneurs. Grant applications will only be accepted from international non-profits that have either obtained equivalency determination or have a US-based fiscal sponsor.
