The main goal of the challenge is to identify and support the next generation of sustainable finance professionals. It aims to connect these emerging leaders with industry experts and promote sustainability in graduate schools worldwide.

Since its inception, the challenge has attracted over 2,500 students from more than 100 academic institutions across the globe. Some of the standout ideas have included providing working capital loans to beekeepers to expand their operations and promote biodiversity conservation, creating an exchange-traded fund to enhance the economic integration of refugees, and establishing a loan fund to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through organic farming, among many others.

To participate in the challenge, contestants must propose and defend a strategy that utilizes finance and investment tools to address environmental or social challenges. It provides an excellent opportunity to apply core financial principles to tackle economic, social, and environmental issues through sustainable investing.

Pitches can focus on various areas such as water, energy, food, social mobility, climate change, plastic waste, education, or healthcare, among others. Contestants are encouraged to explore the full range of investment tools, styles, and asset classes to develop their strategies.
