Apply for for the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women and Girls

The United Nations Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women and Girls (UN Trust Fund) is now accepting applications for its latest Call for Proposals. This global funding initiative supports civil society and women’s organizations committed to ending all forms of violence against women and girls. The 2025 Call responds to the growing need for long-term, flexible, and sustainable funding that enables grassroots organizations to remain resilient, independent, and effective in driving transformative change.

The program offers four-year grants, including core and flexible funding, to strengthen organizations that work directly with and for women and girls—particularly those from structurally marginalized groups who are most affected by inequality and gender-based violence. Through this initiative, the UN Trust Fund seeks to empower local actors to design and implement innovative, inclusive, and context-driven solutions that address the root causes of violence and create lasting impact.

Where the Funding Applies

Eligible applicants must operate in countries and territories listed on the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Development Assistance Committee (DAC) list of official development assistance (ODA) recipients. This ensures that funding reaches regions and communities where the need for gender justice, protection, and empowerment is most urgent.

Who Can Apply

The Call is open exclusively to civil society organizations, with special priority given to:

  • Women’s and girls’ rights organizations actively advancing gender equality and protection from violence.
  • Women-led organizations, where women hold leadership positions and guide program design and decision-making.
  • Constituent-led organizations that represent and are driven by the communities they serve.
  • Small, grassroots organizations, which often operate with limited resources but play a crucial role in community mobilization and advocacy.

Grant Duration

All approved grants will run for a period of four years, allowing grantees to plan strategically and sustain their interventions over time. This long-term approach aims to ensure consistent, measurable progress in preventing and responding to violence against women and girls.

Funding Range and Flexibility

Grant amounts will range from US $150,000 to US $800,000, depending on the size, scope, and capacity of the applying organization.

  • Small organizations may allocate up to 18% of the total grant as flexible funding, in addition to contingency and indirect costs.
  • Large organizations may allocate up to 12% for flexible use, alongside contingency and indirect costs.

This funding structure is designed to give organizations greater autonomy to address their most pressing operational needs while maintaining accountability and program focus.

Why This Grant Matter

The UN Trust Fund plays a pivotal role in advancing gender equality and protecting the rights of women and girls across the globe. Since its establishment in 1996, it has supported over 600 organizations in more than 140 countries and territories, helping to strengthen prevention systems, improve access to justice, and enhance the delivery of survivor-centered services.

By providing core and flexible funding, the 2025 Call for Proposals aims to help organizations build resilience, respond to emerging challenges, and sustain progress toward the elimination of gender-based violence in all its forms.

How to Apply

Interested organizations are encouraged to review the eligibility requirements and submit their proposals through the official application portal before the stated deadline. Applicants should ensure that their proposals reflect the principles of inclusion, accountability, and sustainability, while aligning with the Fund’s mission to end violence against women and girls everywhere.
