Applications open: Global Health Advocacy Incubator – Health Security Budget Advocacy Academy.
The Global Health Advocacy Incubator (GHAI) is now accepting applications for the Health Security Budget Advocacy Academy. This opportunity is open to civil society organizations (CSOs) from various countries in Africa, with a particular focus on Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. The aim of the academy is to enhance the capacity of CSOs in budget advocacy within the African region.
GHAI has been working in collaboration with Resolve to Save Lives (RTSL) on the Prevent Epidemics program. This program aims to generate public demand and political support for increased domestic resource mobilization for epidemic preparedness. GHAI’s approach involves bringing together policy leaders, CSOs, and media to advocate for adequate and reliable funding for epidemic preparedness as a national priority.
Building on the knowledge gained since 2018, GHAI has developed the Budget Advocacy Toolkit for Epidemic Preparedness: Facilitator’s Guide. This guide provides a step-by-step course for facilitators to teach advocacy techniques for epidemic preparedness to government officials and CSO advocates. It is based on GHAI’s Budget Advocacy Toolkit for Epidemic Preparedness and serves as a resource to scale up Prevent Epidemics budget advocacy through workshops and potentially online platforms.
