The UONGOZI Institute Women’s Leadership Program is designed to assist both senior and aspiring female leaders in addressing the distinct challenges that often hinder women from attaining senior leadership roles in the workplace.

The objective of the UONGOZI Institute Women’s Leadership Program is to strengthen their capacity for making strategic decisions, managing teams and resources effectively, and enhancing both personal and leadership attributes.

CALL FOR APPLICATION – UONGOZI Institute Women’s Leadership Program

UONGOZI Institute invites applications from African women leaders across all sectors for its Women’s Leadership Programme. The UONGOZI Institute Women’s Leadership Program, running over the course of six months, allows participants to navigate the unique leadership challenges that deter female professionals in the workplace from occupying senior leadership positions.

SCHOLARSHIPS
Participants of the UONGOZI Institute Women’s Leadership Program will receive fully-funded scholarships, covering programme fees; books; travel expenses, meals and refreshments during in-person sessions; and membership at UONGOZI Institute’s Resource Centre.

ADMISSION
Applicants who received the wait list decision in 2023 will be automatically considered in the admission process and do not need to re-apply. The recruited candidates will form the fifth and sixth cohorts of the UONGOZI Institute Women’s Leadership Program. The programme will begin in October 2024.

DELIVERY APPROACH
Hybrid: In-person and virtual.

PROGRAMME REQUIREMENTS
The UONGOZI Institute Women’s Leadership Program includes four sections: Women’s Leadership Forum (WLF), training, coaching, and mentoring.

The WLF brings together political and business leaders to exchange ideas and share best practices to promote women’s inclusion in leadership roles.

Training hones in on participants’ ability to manage their inner selves, lead others, and harness resources. It includes four modules that are run over six consecutive days.

Coaching and mentoring sessions come after training, and are aimed at accelerating individual growth. The duration is five and a half months. The estimated time commitment per month is 1-4 days.

To complete the UONGOZI Institute Women’s Leadership Program, participants must fully participate and complete all sessions and also, complete graded assignments.

How to apply – UONGOZI Institute Women’s Leadership Program

Requirements for admission to the UONGOZI Institute Women’s Leadership Program are:

(i) Candidate’s Curriculum Vitae (not exceeding 3 pages)
(ii) Recommendation, commitment and permission letter from the employer to confirm the applicant’s full participation in the programme.
(iii) A motivational statement (between 450 – 500 words) explaining the candidate’s leadership successes, challenges and reasons for applying for the programme

Selection criteria include:

(i) At least five years of supervisory, managerial or leadership experience
(ii) At least seven years of work experience
(iii) Minimum bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

DEADLINE
Applications for the UONGOZI Institute Women’s Leadership Program must be received by Thursday 12 August, 2024 at 23:00 hours (EAT). Applications received after this deadline will not be considered. Only successful candidates will be contacted.
