Applications open for the The Global Development Awards Competition (GDAC)
The Global Development Awards Competition (GDAC) is a program organized by GDN that brings together a diverse community of researchers and development practitioners. This program aims to identify talented individuals and support their career advancement in the Global South. Additionally, GDAC funds innovative social development projects implemented by NGOs, which benefit marginalized groups in the developing world.
The theme for the 2024 edition of GDAC is “Sustainable Climate Action for Human-Centered Development.” This edition will feature two categories of awards:
1. The Japanese Award for Outstanding Research on Development (ORD) 2024 Edition: This is a competitive research grant program that seeks to identify and fund exceptional research proposals. These proposals should demonstrate a high potential for excellence in research and have clear policy implications for addressing development issues in low and middle-income countries, as defined by the World Bank.
2. The Japanese Award for Most Innovative Development Project (MIDP) 2024 Edition: This category is a competitive grant program that provides support to non-profit NGOs and CSOs in low or lower-middle-income countries, as defined by the World Bank. The aim is to recognize the innovative approach of their projects.
