Applications now open for the Global Health Equity Scholars Fellowship Program

Applications for the 2025/2026 Global Health Equity Scholars Fellowship Program – GHES are now being accepted. This one-year mentored global health research training fellowship is funded by the NIH Fogarty International Center and managed by a consortium consisting of Stanford University, the University of Arizona, the University of California at Berkeley, and Yale University.

The consortium has partnerships with established medical and research institutions in 17 low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Throughout the fellowship year, participants engage in a research training experience at one of these institutions and carry out a research project aligned with the health priorities of the collaborating LMIC under the guidance of their mentors.

Global Health Equity Scholars Fellowship Program – GHES is part of the Launching Future Leaders in Global Health (LAUNCH) training initiative, which is supported by the Fogarty International Center (FIC) and various collaborating Institutes and Centers at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Requirements: Global Health Equity Scholars Fellowship Program – GHES

– Must hold a doctoral or health professional degree (e.g., PhD, DrPH, MD, DO, DVM, DDS) at the time of application.
– Candidates with a doctoral degree should have completed their terminal degree within the past five years (graduated in 2019 or later).
– Candidates with a health professional degree should have finished their clinical training within the last five years (completed in 2019 or later).
– The terminal degree (doctoral/health professional) must have been obtained in 2019 or later. If you earned your doctoral/health professional degree before 2019 and subsequently completed a master’s degree between 2019 and the present, you are not eligible to apply.
– Must be a resident of one of the 24 collaborating LMICs.
– Must be associated with Global Health Equity Scholars Fellowship Program – GHES medical/research institutions in the collaborating LMIC or have a professional connection with a Global Health Equity Scholars Fellowship Program – GHES U.S. and/or LMIC faculty member affiliated with the institution.

  • LMIC applicants are not eligible to apply for predoctoral fellowships.
