The Africa Fellowship for Young Energy Leaders represents an educational initiative aimed at nurturing the upcoming generation of energy leaders who will ensure sustainable energy access and contribute to achieving a zero-carbon Africa.

The Africa Fellowship for Young Energy Leaders program aspires to equip recent graduates in fields such as Physics, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building/Construction Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Accounting, Finance, and Solar Energy with essential knowledge regarding Renewable Energy Technology and career development opportunities within the energy sector.

The objective of the Africa Fellowship for Young Energy Leaders is to produce a skilled workforce for the renewable energy industry and foster entrepreneurs dedicated to providing clean energy access to 600 million individuals in Africa who currently lack it, while also retaining young African talent in this vital sector, which is crucial for unlocking Africa’s sustainable future. The program provides insights from international experts across four categories of renewable energy technologies, with a specific emphasis on the African context.

The Africa Fellowship for Young Energy Leaders (AFYEL) is an educational initiative launched by The Renewable Energy Technology Training Institute in collaboration with RETTI Virtual University, various government agencies, leading academic institutions, and private sector organizations.

Program structure – Africa Fellowship for Young Energy Leaders

The six months fellowship will include expert training sessions facilitated across mentioned learning areas. The goal is to pass on knowledge and deep understanding of the areas to enable participants to get empowered and gain clarity to create solutions in the area or serve as competent employee in one of the industries, pursue a higher degree program or become experts in the field. Fellows will be encouraged to come up with tech solutions to identified problems.
