World Bank Group Youth Summit 2024 Pitch Competition Call for Applications
The World Bank Group Youth Summit is returning for its 11th edition, following the success of the previous 10 editions. This year, the summit will focus on the theme of Digital Transformation, aiming to involve young people in discussions about the most urgent issues affecting their generation. The event will bring together thousands of participants from all over the world.
Scheduled to take place on May 30-31, 2024, the summit will feature various activities and engagements in different regions, as well as at the World Bank Group headquarters in Washington DC.
The Youth Summit, organized by the World Bank Group, is the largest annual gathering of young people aged 18-35. Its purpose is to provide a platform for global youth engagement on the most pressing challenges of our time. The summit’s objectives are threefold:
1) To empower young people to explore innovative ideas that address development challenges.
2) To equip young people with the necessary tools to initiate and participate in impactful projects.
3) To foster dialogue between young people, the World Bank Group, and other key stakeholders on a global scale.
World Bank Group Youth Summit 2024 Pitch Competition Theme
The WBG Youth Summit 2024 will center around the theme of Powering Progress: Youth Leading the Digital Transformation. This event will highlight the efforts of young individuals who are utilizing technology to address development challenges. In line with the World Bank’s Digital Development Practice, the summit will concentrate on three specific subthemes:
1) Digital Access and Inclusion
2) Artificial Intelligence
3) Sustainable Technology for a Livable Planet
During discussions on these subthemes, the summit will emphasize three distinct perspectives on technology: Youth in areas affected by Fragility, Conflict and Violence (FCV), Women in Tech, and Rural Youth. By acknowledging these groups, the summit will showcase innovative ideas on a global platform that tackle the digital divide, promote inclusive and sustainable development, and explore the opportunities and challenges associated with emerging technologies. With the objective of empowering young individuals to harness the potential of technology, the summit will bring together young minds, experts, and stakeholders to shape the digital future and drive progress towards a more inclusive and sustainable world.

The WBG Youth Summit 2024 Pitch Competition presents an exciting chance for young innovators to exhibit their creative solutions in tackling global challenges. This competition is open to individuals aged 18-35 from all around the world, providing a dynamic platform to present your ideas to an international audience through compelling pitch decks.
The focus of the Pitch Competition will be on impactful technology that addresses challenges faced by youth in FCV-affected areas, women in the tech industry, and the digital inclusion of rural youth. As we transition into a technology-driven world, it becomes increasingly important to reduce vulnerabilities and socio-economic disparities in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
We strongly encourage submissions from diverse backgrounds and various focus areas, with a particular interest in addressing the following themes:
1. Bridging the Digital Divide: Present solutions that promote digital inclusion and establish reliable connectivity, overcoming barriers to ensure universal digital access.
2. Intelligence for Good: Explore the potential of artificial intelligence in combating socioeconomic inequalities, driving meaningful change, and addressing issues related to equality and inclusion.
