United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) Traineeship Job Positions 2024: Call for Applications

Applications from competent people interested in working full-time for United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) for at least six months are now being accepted by UNITAR PTPU. Under the guidance of the Team Leader, Youth and Women Empowerment, the trainee will offer assistance with a broad range of responsibilities related to the planning and execution of various programs.

Individual work plans will be created in compliance with certain terms of reference, which also emphasize learning objectives because the goal of the traineeship is to enable trainees to acquire particular competencies and skills.

PARTICULAR WORKING AREAS INCLUDE

  • Support in finding pathways and tactics to improve accessibility to current youth, peace, and security offers and aid in their diffusion to new audiences;
  • Support in developing activities and partnerships to strengthen UNITAR’s portfolio on youth, peace, and security;
  • Aadministrative and logistical assistance with the execution of trainings and other activities;
  • Assistance in the drafting of different written products;
  • Assist the pillar in the working area “Youth and Women’s Empowerment” of UNITAR’s Division for Peace by providing cross-cutting priorities.
  • Assist with any additional responsibilities as directed by the supervisor.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Strong background in one or more the following areas:

  • Peace studies/International relations
  • Social entrepreneurship
  • Inclusion, diversity, equality and accessibility
  • Training/Education

Skills needed

To operate effectively in the digital workplace, the learner should have the following qualities: a strong desire to work on training and capacity building; advanced understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite; and a willingness to pick up new IT skills. Working with project concept development on an international scale in the past will be advantageous. Additional attributes like curiosity, commitment, and self-reliance at work are appreciated.

Languages

Proficiency in English is necessary. Proficiency in Arabic or Spanish is seen advantageous.

STATUS:

UNITAR trainees for this role can work from home or at the organization’s Geneva headquarters. A monthly stipend of 900 CHF in Geneva or 700 USD will be given to trainees.
