Submit Your Entry for the Pitcher Awards: Open Also to Africans in Diaspora

Pitcher Festival has recently announced that it is now accepting submissions for the Pitcher Awards, specifically for work created for the African Diaspora communities worldwide. This strategic move further solidifies Pitcher Awards’ position as the ultimate pan-African standard for creative excellence, aligning with the African Union’s recognition of the African Diaspora as the 6th region of Africa.

According to the African Union, the African Diaspora encompasses individuals of African descent residing outside the continent, regardless of their citizenship or nationality, who are eager to contribute to the continent’s development and the establishment of the African Union. In line with this, the African Union has spearheaded the establishment of the State of the African Diaspora (SOAD), which already boasts a prime minister and other state officials.

Pitcher Festival acknowledges the increasing influence and popularity of African pop culture, including music, film, fashion, and art, on a global scale. It also recognizes the growing trend of brands collaborating with African artists, celebrities, and influencers to create culturally relevant and authentic campaigns. As the leading platform for advertising and marketing communications awards across Africa, Pitcher Awards aims to champion the curation of these exciting emerging trends. This will not only allow Pitcher Festival to showcase the finest creative works from the African Diaspora but also provide a platform for African creatives to connect with their counterparts in the Diaspora.

With the expansion of the eligibility criteria, Pitcher Awards is now open to submissions for works created within Africa or elsewhere for implementation or release in Africa or the African diaspora communities worldwide. Dr. Nnamdi Ndu, Chairman of Pitcher Festival, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Geography no longer determines destiny. In today’s world, shared history, culture, aspirations, and interests are the new unifying factors. Therefore, we eagerly anticipate the opportunities that this expansion will bring, fostering collaborations and professional development within the African creative industry.”

The deadline for submissions to the Pitcher Awards 2024 is 31st March 2024. The competition encompasses a wide range of categories including Advertising, PR, Media, CSR, Digital, Entertainment, and various other sectors within Marketing Communications. CLICK HERE TO SUBMIT YOUR ENTRY
