BRAIN (Bridging Research and Innovation) is a comprehensive program specifically designed to foster Deep Tech Innovation in Africa. It provides scientist-entrepreneurs who are tackling fundamental challenges with access to world-class opportunities.
In collaboration with MIT Legatum Center, MIT Executive MBAs, and MIT Africa, Open Startup International is conducting this program. We’re supporting 20 Pan-African Deep Tech startups to participate in a 1-week regional bootcamp in Cairo, Egypt. The bootcamp is co-developed with experts from MIT and the African innovation ecosystem, offering tailored mentorship and support. Additionally, the participating startups will have the chance to compete for immersion visits in different ecosystems as part of the finalist teams.

To be eligible for the program, please make sure that your startup meets the following criteria:
1. Your startup is incorporated in the African continent.
2. Your startup is based on a strong Deep Tech innovation rooted in scientific research.
3. Your startup is currently in or near the MVP stage.
4. Your startup demonstrates a path towards intellectual property (IP).
5. Your startup shows early traction or early deals.
6. Your startup has started securing initial grants or funds.
7. Your startup has plans to scale GLOBALLY.
