Global Health Corps Sub-Saharan Africa Fellowship Program for young professionals (Fully Funded) is now open and calling for applications from eligible professionals. Global Health Corps (GHC) is dedicated to recruiting and selecting highly qualified individuals with diverse backgrounds and skill sets for a year-long fellowship. Throughout their fellowship, our fellows make significant contributions to the organizations they are placed in and the communities they serve. In addition to their work, fellows also receive comprehensive leadership training and become part of GHC’s global network.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the fellowship, applicants must meet the following requirements by the start of the program:
1. Be 30 years of age or younger.
2. Hold a bachelor’s or undergraduate university degree.
3. Be proficient in English.
4. Be a citizen or legal permanent resident of Burundi, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, or Zimbabwe.

Citizens and legal permanent residents of all 13 eligible countries can apply for up to three roles in any of our four operating countries.

For Malawian citizens, you can apply for national roles in Malawi (M-Nat) as well as international roles in Rwanda (R-Int), Uganda (G-Int), and Zambia (Z-Int).
Rwandan citizens are eligible to apply for national roles in Rwanda (R-Nat) as well as international roles in Malawi (M-Int), Uganda (G-Int), and Zambia (Z-Int).
Ugandan citizens can apply for national roles in Uganda (G-Nat) as well as international roles in Malawi (M-Int), Rwanda (R-Int), and Zambia (Z-Int).
Zambian citizens can apply for national roles in Zambia (Z-Nat) as well as international roles in Malawi (M-Int), Rwanda (R-Int), and Uganda (G-Int).
Citizens or legal permanent residents of Burundi, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, or Zimbabwe are eligible to apply for international roles in any of our four placement countries – Malawi (M-Int), Rwanda (R-Int), Uganda (G-Int), and Zambia (Z-Int).

Benefits

GHC fellows are provided with a living stipend that is tailored to their specific location, taking into account the local economic indicators. This stipend is set at a level that is appropriate for a professional trainee in that particular area.

Additionally, fellows receive the following benefits:

1. Housing or a housing allowance
2. Health insurance
3. Payment for travel to and from the placement site, as well as for GHC training and retreats throughout the fellowship.

Timeline

1. Applications open on December 5, 2023.
2. Priority applications are due on January 2, 2024. This is the first time we are implementing a priority deadline to give applicants priority consideration.
3. Applications close on January 10, 2024, at 5pm GMT/ 6pm WAT/ 7pm CAT/ 8pm EAT. We encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible!
4. Recommendation forms are due on January 24, 2024. GHC requires one recommendation form to be submitted directly by your reference. Without it, we cannot consider your application.
5. GHC reviews applications from January through February, conducts interviews in March and April, and makes offers on a rolling basis starting in late April. The fellowship begins at our Training Institute in July 2024.
