NCDs Prevention Competition for Nigerian Secondary School Students (Up to N100,000 award)
We are extending an invitation to students in Nigerian secondary schools to share their innovative and practical ideas on how to prevent non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in their community. Nigeria is currently grappling with a growing burden of major NCDs, including cardiovascular diseases, cancers, respiratory diseases, and diabetes.
These diseases are often influenced by behavioral risk factors such as physical inactivity, excessive alcohol consumption, unhealthy diet, air pollution, and tobacco use. It is crucial to raise awareness and educate young people about the prevention strategies for NCDs, as these behaviors often begin during adolescence.
Requirements: NCDs Prevention Competition for Nigerian Secondary School Students
- Interested adolescents are encouraged to submit their ideas on the topic “Burden of NCD in Nigeria: My role as an NCD Prevention Champion.”
- The focus should be on addressing any or all of the five behavioral risk factors (physical inactivity, excessive alcohol consumption, unhealthy diet, air pollution, and tobacco use) that contribute to major NCDs within their community.
- Participants can choose from various submission categories, including essay writing, spoken word, drama video, art & painting, storytelling, and more.
