Microsoft Imagine Cup Junior 2024 Call for Entries

Imagine Cup Junior, now in its fifth year, offers an exciting opportunity for students aged 5-18 to explore the world of technology and its potential in solving global challenges. This global student challenge serves as a great platform for students to delve into artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and cybersecurity, catering to all levels, including beginners.

This year, Microsoft is thrilled to introduce a new category specifically designed for students aged 5-12. With a focus on Technology for Good, this category provides tailored lessons for early learners. The newly developed teaching resources aim to support educators in providing this valuable opportunity to their students. Additionally, Microsoft is pleased to announce the inclusion of a Generative AI lesson in the AI for Good competition for students aged 13-18.

Microsoft Imagine Cup Junior Criteria

• To participate, students form teams of two to six for the AI for Good category and teams of two to forty for the Tech for Good category.
• They are required to develop an original concept that addresses Microsoft’s AI for Good and Tech for Good initiatives, and complete the Imagine Cup Junior PowerPoint submission template.
• Team Leaders also have access to hackathon materials, which can be utilized to run a hackathon in their classrooms, facilitating further learning for students and promoting best practices for Imagine Cup Junior.
• We eagerly anticipate the ideas that students will submit! The top 10 global submission winners will be announced on June 13, 2024, through the Microsoft Education blog.

Microsoft Imagine Cup Junior Registration Process

• The registration process for Imagine Cup Junior commenced on January 10, 2024. To participate, Team Leaders are required to submit projects on behalf of their student teams before May 8, 2024, at 23:59 (GMT+0).
• In order for students to take part in Imagine Cup Junior, they must be registered by a Team Leader who is an adult over the age of 18, such as an educator, instructor, staff member, parent, or guardian. Team Leaders will register on behalf of the students and will be granted access to the Imagine Cup Junior Resource Pack, which is detailed below. This resource pack aims to facilitate learning and enhance the challenge experience.
