How can we ensure that 100 million individuals are prepared for a future full of opportunities? This is the question that Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 4 ($50,000 grant) Supported by Deloitte seeks to solve.

Education plays a crucial role in sustainable development as it empowers individuals, nations, and society as a whole. However, there are millions of people worldwide who are unable to reach their full potential. The key to unlocking their potential lies in investing in education and skills development. This serves as the foundation for creating opportunities and progress, ultimately leading to better futures for everyone.

In order to meet the challenges of tomorrow, our future innovators, entrepreneurs, and leaders will require new skills. Unfortunately, as of today, 800 million young people are lacking even the most basic skills necessary to succeed in the workforce by 2030. Educational inequality has been a global issue even before the COVID-19 pandemic, but the crisis has further exacerbated the learning gap.

At Deloitte, we are dedicated to expanding opportunities for 100 million individuals by 2030. We aim to achieve this by developing job skills, improving educational outcomes, and providing opportunities for underrepresented and marginalized groups across the globe. In alignment with this commitment, Deloitte is proud to support the Lead2030 Challenge for SDG4 for the fifth consecutive year. By working together, we can accelerate the implementation of innovative youth-led solutions that promote inclusive, equitable, and high-quality education for all.

In accordance with Deloitte’s goal of preparing 100 million futures for a world of opportunity by 2030, the challenge seeks to support scalable youth-led solutions that:

1. Utilize innovative approaches and technology
2. Address the root causes of the issue
3. Demonstrate the ability to drive impact and have the potential to scale
4. Recognize existing efforts and collaborate with others to accelerate impact
5. Facilitate opportunities for collective impact by engaging a wide range of stakeholders
6. Improve the quality of, or access to, education and skills training that prepares young people for success

The challenge is open to young people from social enterprises, non-profits, or community organizations. Together, let us pave the way for a brighter future by empowering 100 million individuals with the skills and opportunities they need to thrive.

Please note that projects must be located in areas where Deloitte operates. The solutions should have a positive impact in at least one of the following areas:

1. Creating opportunities for young people to develop skills and acquire lifelong learning abilities, enabling them to be prepared for the future workforce.
2. Accelerating entrepreneurial skills and cultivating a new generation of individuals who can create jobs.
3. Enhancing access to education and skills opportunities for individuals who may be left behind due to the rapidly changing global economy.
4. Supporting the development of digital skills and the adoption of technologies to empower learners in accessing education and skill development opportunities.

Prizes

• The prize for the winning solution includes:
• – Sponsorship to participate in the One Young World Summit 2024
  – A grant of US$50,000 from Deloitte
  – 12 months of mentorship from a team of Deloitte professionals and partners. The mentorship team will work to accelerate your solution based on the specific needs of your initiative or organization, including areas such as business strategy, data collection best practices, monitoring and evaluation, and product design.

Eligibility

• – The solution must clearly align with the SDG4 challenge.
  – The solution must be founded by an individual aged 18 – 30.
  – It should have a well-structured time horizon, identifying key stakeholders and beneficiaries, and proposing reasonable and well-thought-out outcomes.
  – The solution should be readily available, either being piloted, implemented, or scaled.
  – It must have a positive social impact, such as generating educational outcomes, employment opportunities, or developing skills.
  – The solution’s impact in society must be adequately measured and/or measurable.
  – It should have the ability to achieve efficiency and sustain itself independently through the resources it generates and/or the investments and donations it attracts.
  – There should be potential for the solution to grow its impact by expanding in scope or size and/or into other regions.
