Achieving Health Nigeria Initiative (AHNi) is a local non-governmental organization that supports various global health interventions, education, and economic initiatives in Nigeria to promote socio-economic development. In order to enhance our operations and interventions in the country, we are currently looking for qualified candidates for the position of Program Officer based in Abuja.

Program Officer at Achieving Health Nigeria Initiative Job Description

  • This role will involve providing support in program planning, design, review, and monitoring of AHNI/GF project implementation at the field level.
  • The Program Officer will also offer programmatic, technical, and financial assistance to ensure the implementation of high-quality interventions and related activities, with a particular focus on clinical care and public health management at the state levels.
  • Additionally, the Program Officer will support and coordinate AHNI activities in accordance with donor guidelines and regulations, assist in strengthening reporting strategies, and contribute to the development of program strategies, work plans, and budgets.
  • The role will also involve providing programmatic assistance to local AHNI partners in programming HIV/AIDS activities at the state level and conducting desk reviews of key documents.
  • Furthermore, the Program Officer will collaborate with their supervisor to oversee capacity building activities for local implementing agencies in the focus states.

Program Officer at Achieving Health Nigeria Initiative Requirements

  • The minimum requirements for this position include a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Business Administration, Sciences, Health Sciences, or Behavioral Sciences, along with 5-7 years of working experience in development and humanitarian programs at the community level.
  • Additionally, candidates should have at least 3-5 years of experience in HIV/AIDS program planning and implementation, working with both public and NGO sectors.
  • Demonstrated success in multicultural environments is also necessary, as well as the ability to work well with others and maintain positive working relationships with staff and AHNI partners.
  • Kindly note that the ability to collaborate effectively with others and establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff and other AHNI partners is a prerequisite.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in terms of reporting, are essential.
  • Having knowledge of the Nigerian public sector health system, as well as experience with NGOs, CBOs, and IDP interventions, is an added advantage.
