Entries open for the UNESCO Youth Eyes on the Silk Roads Photo Contest

Applications for the 2024 UNESCO Youth Eyes on the Silk Roads Photo Contest are now being accepted. This international photo contest provides young individuals worldwide with the opportunity to showcase their interpretation of the common heritage of the Silk Roads through the art of photography.

Given the significance of visual arts, especially photography, as a means of communication and self-expression for today’s youth, images have the potential to raise awareness about important global issues and contribute to peace and understanding. By participating in this contest, young people can engage with each other digitally, sharing their creativity and aspirations for the future.

The Youth Eyes on the Silk Roads Photo Contest aims to enable young individuals who reside in or have visited these regions to express their perspectives and enhance their knowledge of the shared cultural heritage and diverse identities that have evolved from the interactions along the Silk Roads. Through the use of photography, the contest seeks to expand these cultural exchanges in the modern world, fostering mutual understanding and peace among the varied populations connected by the Silk Roads.

Eligibility

  1. The contest is open to two age groups: 14-17 year olds and 18-25 year olds.
  2. In its 6th edition, participants are encouraged to submit photos that best represent the shared heritage of the Silk Roads under the theme of “Life Celebrations.”

PRIZES

  1. Prizes for the contest include a professional camera for first place winners, a semi-professional camera for second place winners,
  2. and a standard-model digital camera for third place winners.
