IMF Internship Program for young professionals now open (Paid Internship- Washington D.C.)

Looking for an exciting and challenging internship at a prestigious international financial institution? If you’re nearing the completion of your PhD in economics or a related field, or finishing up your Master’s degree in economics, the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Internship Program (FIP) might just be the perfect opportunity for you!

As a successful applicant, you’ll have the chance to participate in a paid internship lasting 10-12 weeks, taking place between June and September 2024. The specific dates will be determined in collaboration with your IMF supervisor upon acceptance. This internship will be conducted in-person at the IMF headquarters in Washington DC.

Throughout your internship, you’ll work closely with an experienced IMF colleague who will guide you in conducting research and analysis on a topic assigned by the Fund. Your efforts may even lead to the creation of a research paper, which could potentially be published internally.

Qualifications

To be eligible for the FIP, you must meet the following criteria:

1. For PhD students:
– Be within one to two years of completing a PhD in macroeconomics or a related field.
– Maintain student status during the internship, continuing your PhD studies afterward.
– Be below the age of 32 when the internship begins.
– Possess excellent written and oral English language skills.
– Demonstrate strong analytical, quantitative, and computer skills.

Master’s students

Master’s students who have completed a degree in macroeconomics or a related field are invited to apply for the internship program. It is important to note that applicants should be below the age of 28 at the start of the internship and should have a strong command of written and oral English. Additionally, possessing analytical, quantitative, and computer skills is highly valued.

Eligibility

To be considered for the internship, applicants must submit a fully completed application form with responses to all questions. A personal CV/Resume should also be attached, along with a recent transcript from the current university program, showing the applicant’s current status and grades.

Please note that only candidates who are selected for further consideration will be contacted by a FIP recruiter. Incomplete applications will unfortunately be rejected.

The internship program offers two start dates, either on June 3 or June 17, 2024. The specific start date will be confirmed at the time of the offer.

It is important to mention that the internship is a paid opportunity. However, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) does not provide housing or housing assistance. Interns are responsible for finding and securing their own accommodations.
