Entries open: One World Media Global Short Docs Forum: Health Solutions 2024 for Journalists and Film Makers
Applications are currently being accepted for the 2024 One World Media Global Short Docs Forum. One World Media is seeking 12 journalists and filmmakers from Kenya and Nigeria to join a collaborative project focused on improving skills and knowledge in health reporting with a solutions-oriented approach.
The Global Short Docs Forum: Health Solutions 2024 aims to gather these individuals to share expertise and experiment with visual storytelling methods to address health challenges in both countries.
During the initial phase, the selected 12 journalists and filmmakers will participate in a series of workshops. In the subsequent stage, the most promising ideas will be awarded a production grant of $7,000 to create their stories, with guidance from mentors and editors. The final documentaries will be showcased at local events and online.
Criteria: One World Media Global Short Docs Forum for Journalists and Film Makers
– Reside and work in Kenya or Nigeria.
– Possess at least 3 years of experience as a filmmaker, broadcast, or print journalist.
– Have previously published human interest or health stories in national media across any platform.
– While not mandatory, applications from journalists and filmmakers based outside Nairobi and Lagos are encouraged.
Timeline: One World Media Global Short Docs Forum for Journalists and Film Makers
- The project will run from July to November 2024, involving online and in-person workshops and production activities. Participants must be able to dedicate time to both the workshops and final production, alongside their regular commitments.
