Entries open for the TWAS Fellowships for Research and Advanced Training
Applications are currently being accepted for the 2024/2025 TWAS Fellowships for Research and Advanced Training. TWAS provides fellowships to emerging scientists from developing countries, allowing them to engage in research for a duration of three to twelve months at an institution in another developing country.
The primary aim of these fellowships is to strengthen the research capabilities of promising scientists, particularly those at the onset of their research careers, and to facilitate the establishment of collaborative networks.
Eligibility – TWAS Fellowships for Research and Advanced Training
- These TWAS Fellowships for Research and Advanced Training are intended for research and advanced training purposes.
- They are available to young scientists who possess at least a Master’s degree or its equivalent.
- Eligible candidates include young scientists engaged in any field of natural sciences, who are citizens of a developing country and are affiliated with a research institution within a developing country.
- There is no age restriction; however, preference is given to early-career scientists and those from Least Developed Countries.
- A list of potential host institutions categorized by field can be found here.
- This list serves as a guideline, and institutions not listed may also be considered, provided they are located in a developing country.
Benefits – TWAS Fellowships for Research and Advanced Training
- The TWAS Fellowships for Research and Advanced Training are available for a minimum duration of three months and a maximum of twelve months.
- TWAS will cover the cost of international low-cost airfare and provide a monthly subsistence allowance of up to USD 300.
- No additional expenses will be covered by TWAS. The host institution is responsible for providing accommodation, meals, and research facilities.
- TWAS Fellowships for Research and Advanced Training are granted by the TWAS Fellowships Committee based on the scientific merit of the applications.
Application Procedure: TWAS Fellowships for Research and Advanced Training
Candidates for the TWAS Fellowships for Research and Advanced Training must fill out the online application form by clicking the ‘Apply now’ button located at the bottom of this page. During the application process, candidates are also required to upload the following documents:
- Scanned copy of the data page of your passport
- Copy of your CV (This should not exceed five pages)
- A written supporting statement from the Head of Your Home Institution;
- Attach two reference letters from senior scientists familiar with your work. Please note that the Head of your Home Institution cannot be one of the referees;
- Your MSc certificate together with all relevant university transcripts;
