Entries now open for the Think Trade, Think Green: Commonwealth Innovative Youth Essay Award Competition
The Commonwealth Secretariat is excited to announce the launch of the Think Trade, Think Green: Commonwealth Innovative Youth Essay Award Competition. This competition, organized by the Trade and Youth teams of the Commonwealth Secretariat, is calling on young researchers and students aged 18-29 to provide their perspectives on a critical issue: How can trade and trade policy contribute to addressing a specific aspect of the climate crisis in their respective countries?
Objective – Think Trade, Think Green: Commonwealth Innovative Youth Essay Award Competition
The aim is to inspire young individuals in the Commonwealth to delve into the connection between trade and climate change, and suggest ways in which trade policy can play a role in combating the climate crisis.
Essay topic – Think Trade, Think Green: Commonwealth Innovative Youth Essay Award Competition
- Discuss how trade and trade policy can be utilized to tackle a particular aspect of the climate crisis in your country.
- Identify a specific problem, illustrate its link to the climate crisis, and propose how trade or trade policy can be leveraged to solve it.
Requirements – Think Trade, Think Green: Commonwealth Innovative Youth Essay Award Competition
- Participants in the Think Trade, Think Green: Commonwealth Innovative Youth Essay Award Competition must be Commonwealth nationals aged between 18-29 to be eligible for this competition.
Prizes – Think Trade, Think Green: Commonwealth Innovative Youth Essay Award Competition
- First prize: £1,000
- Second and third prizes: £500 each
- The top three essays will be featured in the Trade Competitiveness Briefing Series and unveiled at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Samoa in October.
Requirements – Think Trade, Think Green: Commonwealth Innovative Youth Essay Award Competition
Essays should not exceed 2,000 words (inclusive of in-text references and footnotes, excluding the reference list)
Use any referencing style (both in-text and reference list)
Submit entries as a single PDF or Word file, with 1.5 spacing and Times New Roman font
Include the following details

– Nationality
– Contact information (email, address, telephone)
– CV or brief bio
