Entries accepted for the Zukunftskolleg Konnect Fellowships for early-career Researchers from Developing Countries (Funded to Germany)

The Zukunftskolleg Konnect Fellowships are designed to support early career researchers from Africa, Asia, and Latin America who are conducting research that aligns with one of the thirteen departments at the University of Konstanz. As a ZUKOnnect Fellow, you will have the opportunity to expand your research networks and familiarize yourself with the research environment at the University of Konstanz while maintaining your current position at home. These fellowships can serve as a valuable introduction to the German and European academic system, making them particularly suitable for doctoral students in their final year. It’s important to note that the Zukunftskolleg does not provide employment contracts for ZUKOnnect Fellows.

The Zukunftskolleg is an Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) that not only offers fellowships but also provides a strong support network to foster the independence of early career researchers. Postdoctoral researchers can benefit from minimal administrative constraints and have the freedom to engage in meaningful collaborations with both emerging colleagues and esteemed senior researchers. Scholars from various disciplines, including humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences, come to Konstanz from all over the world to conduct cutting-edge research. The Zukunftskolleg plays a crucial role in the University of Konstanz’s institutional strategy, and the university itself is recognized as one of Germany’s top eleven Universities of Excellence.

Requirements:

• – You must be currently working in Latin America, Asia, or Africa and have an educational background.
• – You should have obtained a doctorate within the last two years (after 15 February 2022) or be in your final year as a doctoral student.
• – Your doctorate should have been completed or will be completed at a university in Latin America, Asia, or Africa.
• – You should not hold a permanent professorship or have a habilitation or equivalent qualification.
• – Your research project should align with one of the disciplines represented at the University of Konstanz.
• Track A: If you choose this track, please mention a researcher at the University of Konstanz, preferably a current Fellow of the Zukunftskolleg, with whom you plan to collaborate. Please refrain from contacting the person(s) in advance.
• Track B: If you opt for this track, you will need to apply based on an invitation from a (Junior) Professor at the University of Konstanz. Additionally, a nomination letter should be sent directly to [email protected] by 15 February 2024. Don’t forget to upload your application documents in the online portal!

Benefits of the Zukunftskolleg Konnect Fellowships 2024 include:

1. Monthly stipend of €1,300 for doctoral students and €2,000 for postdoctoral researchers.
