Enter the Allard Prize Photography Competition (CAD$1,000 prize)
The Allard Prize Committee judges the prestigious Allard Photography Competition, celebrating photography and promoting the values of the Allard Prize. Photographers can submit entries year-round, focusing on themes of courage, leadership, transparency, accountability, the rule of law, and human rights. Winners receive CAD $1,000 and have their photos displayed on the Allard Prize website for six months. Entries are archived for future reference. This prestigious award recognizes individuals, movements, and organizations that have made significant contributions in promoting transparency, accountability, and the Rule of Law. SELECTION PROCESS: The process of nominating and selecting the Allard Prize winner and honorable mention recipients is a thorough and inclusive one. Nominations are open to the public and can be submitted at any time through the Submissions Page. For the 2024 Allard Prize, the deadline for nominations is January 10, 2024. Any nominations received after this date will be considered for the next prize cycle.
The Allard Prize Committee plays a crucial role in overseeing the entire process. They carefully review each nomination and engage in discussions to create a shortlist of nominees. This shortlist is then shared with the Allard Prize Advisory Board for their review and comments.
Taking into account the valuable observations and contributions from the Advisory Board, the Allard Prize Nominating Subcommittee further refines the shortlist. Finally, the Allard Prize winner and honorable mention recipients are chosen by the Allard Prize Selection Subcommittee.
Once the selection process is complete, the Allard Prize is presented to the deserving winner at a public ceremony, where their remarkable achievements are celebrated. If you have any more questions about the nomination process, you can find additional information in the FAQs section.
Requirements
- Accepted file types: jpg, png, jpeg, Max. file size: 512 MB, Max. files: 4.
- Horizontal images are be at least 1180 pixels wide and vertical images are to be at least 740 pixels tall. No borders on the image files and NO white or black framing.
- There are absolutely no limitations on who can put forward a nominee for evaluation. Nominations can originate from various sources, such as members of the Allard Prize Committee, self-nominations, or even nominations from within the organization being nominated.
