The EQUALS Global Partnership is currently seeking nominations for the 2024 ITU Equals in Tech Awards for Gender Equality & Mainstreaming in Technology. We invite you to share information about initiatives, projects, movements, organizations, and institutions worldwide that are dedicated to closing the digital gender gap.
Each year, EQUALS calls for nominations from innovative and dedicated initiatives that strive to provide women and girls with equal access to the internet, essential digital skills, and career opportunities within the technology sector. Additionally, EQUALS honors its partners with the Special Recognition Partner Award. These awards acknowledge the efforts of a diverse, global coalition of partners committed to advancing gender equality in the digital era. Award recipients become part of a robust support network and broaden their professional connections.
Award categories – ITU Equals in Tech Awards for Gender Equality & Mainstreaming in Technology
- EQUALS welcomes nominations for initiatives of all scales from around the world. The categories for the awards include:
- Access: Initiatives aimed at enhancing the access, connectivity, and security of digital technology for women and girls.
- Skills: Initiatives that foster the development of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) skills among women and girls.
- Leadership in Tech: Initiatives that promote the inclusion of women in decision-making positions within the information and communication technology (ICT) sector.
- Leadership in SME: Initiatives led by technology sector companies that work to address the digital gender divide.
- Research: Initiatives that emphasize research on gender-related digital divides and generate credible evidence to address diversity challenges in STEM and computing disciplines.
About the ITU Equals in Tech Awards for Gender Equality & Mainstreaming in Technology
The EQUALS in Tech Awards, held annually, are coordinated and awarded by the EQUALS Global Partnership. This partnership comprises over 100 entities, including non-governmental organizations, private sector firms, international organizations, and research institutions. Founding partners of this initiative include the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), UN Women, the International Trade Centre, GSMA, and the United Nations University. Collectively, the partnership aims to enhance the accessibility of information and communication technologies (ICTs) for women and girls, while also supporting women’s advancement within the technology industry.
