Branch International launched in Nigeria in early 2017 and has experienced rapid growth and adoption. We are expanding our product portfolio and user base in all our markets, including Nigeria, and we rely on reliable products and services to achieve our goals. We are currently seeking talented interns to join us on this exciting journey.

As a software engineering intern, you will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced engineers at Branch and make significant contributions to our products and code base for a period of 4-6 months. During this time, you will brainstorm, design, code, debug, and ship features that serve our millions of customers, while also gaining valuable skills for your future career.

Here are some of the things you will be involved in:

– Contributing to the development of functionalities for existing and new product lines and platforms, such as Credit, Wallet, Payments, KYC, Data Platforms, and more.
– Integrating with various third-party systems, including payment systems, identity providers, and messaging platforms.

To be considered for this internship, we have a few minimum requirements:

– Some experience in building Backend or Android applications that go beyond simple toy projects. Having applications with real users or involvement in an open source project would be a great advantage.
– A solid foundation in computer science fundamentals, distributed systems, and data storage.
– Familiarity with various flavors of Unix and commonly used command line utilities.

Preferred Requirements

1. Proficiency in one of the mainstream languages such as Python, Ruby, Java, etc.
2. Strong entrepreneurial mindset, taking the initiative to solve problems proactively. Demonstrated experience in starting or contributing to projects you are passionate about.
3. Excellent collaboration and communication skills. Understanding the importance of teamwork in a startup environment. Actively listening to others, expressing your thoughts, and asking relevant questions.
4. Enthusiasm for working in a distributed team and company, embracing the opportunity to collaborate with teammates from diverse backgrounds and locations while continuously learning.
